His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed attended the fourth Ramadan lecture this year, organized by the “Mohammed bin Zayed Council”, and delivered, last night, Tuesday, by Salim Ismail, the founding executive director of the University of Singularity, and a strategic expert in technology, entitled “How does technology help?” Institutions to grow to keep up with the future, ”in His Highness’s Majlis at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

The lecture was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler in the Al Dhafra Region, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation “, and His Highness Lieutenant-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President The Cabinet, Minister of Home Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination , Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and a number of Sheiks, ministers, senior officials and members of the diplomatic corps.

The lecturer, Salim Ismail, emphasized that what excites the experience of the UAE is that you are in an environment where you practice for rapid and significant growth, a mentality change that leads to a different path than we have in our history has done, and the way the Emirates designs institutions for the future is very wonderful.

He said: I am proud of the UAE for how it has developed legal structures to be in line with the future as there are few countries in the world that do so. The UAE expects events and opens up wonderful fields in various sectors.

He added: “During my visit to the UAE, I visited ADNOC and learned about what is happening in the digitization process, which is very impressive.”

He said: I will talk about what we see happening in the world and some of the transformations that are taking place, and the most important thing is how we act and adapt to this world in which we see a big, fast and exciting change taking place. our eyes, and we see the great transformation in humanity that we may not have seen in our history. And in 1900 we find that we are multiplying the power in a way that is hundreds of years more than predicted, and we have seen wars and depressions and ups and downs and a change in the form of stock markets, but we say still that this decline continues, but it does not make sense, when we have technological behavior in a product.

He emphasized that the power of technology, information and data that comes to us multiplies, and the most important thing is the difficulty in understanding the multiplier pattern, and the integrated versions that depended on one technology, and if we had an information environment had, we could know what’s going on, but we have reached the end of an integrated cycle, and we now have a completely different form, which is Clusters of Technology, and then we enter a world that is an endless form of computer in all industries and in all sectors, and we are moving from scarcity to abundance in education, technology and energy, and then the main characteristic of technology is that it takes something scarce and makes it abundant, and it happens before our eyes today.

The lecturer talked about his experiences, including joining the board of directors of one of the largest institutions in the world, led by Elon Musk, who spends hundreds of millions of dollars on innovation, and has a two billion dollar business that did not exist before. .

The lessons he learned, he said, are that when there is some form of innovation in a large organization, we will see the difference, and there is resistance to change, as new innovations cause a difficult problem, and many organizations around the world have struggled with resistance to change and linear induction.

We know how technologies work within these paradigms, he said, and they are unique in human history; Every time there was one technology that accelerated, and we did not have as much technology that moved so fast and doubled every 9 months, and the human brain doubled year after year with its data, and we had multiplication models that grew fast , and it all leads to dynamics The most important, including digitization, which is moving fast, there is a speed in the memory on mobile phones, which is an innovative form, of which the first is photography, which comes within models that range from scarcity to abundance shifted, and we feel in the era of digitalization that we need appropriate business models, and then we deal with successive industries through a system abundance.

The lecturer touched on a number of models in which digitization is used, including vertical agriculture, which has changed a lot in this area. This type of agriculture provides 99% of the water used in agriculture, especially since 70% of the fresh water is used. in agriculture, and there is an amazing system in Australia It is the use of solar energy in the desalination of salt water to produce 17 000 tons of tomatoes annually, as well as electric motors, and the uses of solar energy, and year after year the performance of solar energy doubles and enters field after field.

He added that we used to see only one invention in the century, but now we see a big, innovative change, for example, democracy is designed to make decisions over a long period of time, and now we have to make quick decisions, and we see that the way democracy is being transformed is no longer in line with the required change, and there are many countries updating their systems In addition to an increase in average life expectancy and the associated challenges, including stress, the focus is now on how to to design systems in our institutions for the future and to lead the world.

He stressed that the new technology is cheap, has a lower cost and works very powerfully, for example, the process of DNA sequencing was expensive. The cost to launch the spaceship was $ 600 million, and “SpaceX” reduced the value of the flight to $ 60 million, and there will be a reduction of that number to $ 6 million.

He pointed out that the idea of ”Liberloop” presented by Elon Musk represents a wonderful innovation, and there are tens of thousands of entrepreneurs who believe in the required innovation by relying on rapidly evolving technology, and to innovate technology. used to develop our business.

He stressed the importance of regenerative change in large organizations, as if the company’s path is slower than the outside world, it will fail, and the focus should be on what is happening within the company. He pointed out that companies that adapt faster to new technology increase their performance by 40 times, and the more flexibility the organization increases, the more success it will achieve, requiring changing technologies and innovations to be embraced.

The lecturer presented 3 proposals to develop companies’ performance using technology, the first of which is the need to embrace changing technology and innovations, and the second that government institutions and bodies in the world are subject to change and innovation, and the third is to respond to these changes and change our mentality completely, in line with new technology.

At the beginning of the lecture, video contributions were presented by dr. Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Center for Futures Studies at the University of Dubai, Khalifa Al Qama, Director of Laboratory Department at the Dubai Future Foundation, and Sabine Shaw, CEO of G42.

Dr. Al Dhaheri said one of the key challenges is the harmonization of legislation, policies and laws with the rapid technological changes. He stressed the importance of the need for legislation and laws for responsible, fair artificial intelligence, which has no prejudice, and focuses on people.

Khalifa Al-Qama, who delivered the lectures, said the path to leadership requires keeping up with the spirit of the times, and with the clock ticking, technological advances and the challenges the human mind is trying to exert are growing.
