Etihad unveils its new Airbus A350 Sustainability 50 and launches its first flight to Paris

Etihad Airways has launched its new Airbus A350-1000, registered under the code A6-XWB, with the launch of a special first commercial flight from Abu Dhabi to Paris. The aircraft is the first of the A350 model operated by an Emirati airline, and the first among 5 other aircraft of the same model that will join the Etihad Airways fleet in the coming months.

The first flight left Abu Dhabi for Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 07:30, with a delegation consisting of representatives of Etihad Airways and Airbus, as well as a number of diplomats, professional media and other dignitaries and business partners.

The aircraft carries the “Estidama 50” distinctive paint job celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, and the Etihad’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050. The aircraft will join Etihad’s leading sustainability campaign, as part of the sustainability program aimed at eliminating carbon emissions related to the aviation sector’s operations.

Destination network

The new Airbus A350 will serve a number of short- and medium-haul destinations, including Mumbai and Delhi, in the second quarter of this year, before being offered from July to serve long-haul destinations such as Chicago and New York.
