Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, unveiled its new furniture in Economy Class cabins and cutlery designed according to the highest standards of sustainability with the aim of improving the guest experience in the first place, and is scheduled to be launched in the last quarter of this year. The announcement came with the opening of the Arab Travel Market, the major trade opportunity for the travel and tourism sector, to be held in Dubai this week.

The airline will significantly enhance its Economy Class experience by upgrading the soft furnishings for all cabins, including the provision of 35 percent larger cushions and 200 thread count cotton mattresses designed locally in the UAE. Complemented by covers made from recycled plastic while staying extra soft, for extra comfort on all trips.

The most distinctive feature of the new dining experience in Economy Class is the recyclable cutlery made from high quality plastic, after disposable plastic has been eliminated. The serving plate, plates and food lids are included in a closed, regular recycling cycle. This means that at the end of their life the products will be collected, cleaned and then crushed for recycling into new alternative products.

Etihad Airways also offers stainless steel cutlery in its cabins, to upgrade the experience and reduce disposable plastic.

It should be noted that Etihad Airways is committed to eliminating 80 percent of disposable plastics by the end of 2022, and this addition confirms the company’s efforts to achieve its sustainability goals. The Federation also switches to local products where possible, which helps to reduce the environmental impacts of its operations.

Terry Daly, Executive Director of Guest Experience, Branding and Marketing, said in this regard: “Etihad Airways is at the forefront when it comes to sustainability in the industry. After in-depth research and developments in our eco-friendly flights in recent years, We are proud to announce that The first step in a series of improvements to our Economy Class travel experience, knowing that our commitment to sustainability will not be able to tolerate high quality and in-depth study products before launching the experience, “These innovative new products enhance the offering we offer our guests. We look forward to bringing this new experience to our fleet later this year.”

The economy class cabins at Etihad Airways are known for their spacious seats with individual side headrests, giving the passenger a comfortable and relaxing travel experience. The company also offers a spacious seat width that allows up to four inches of additional legroom for each guest who chooses such an upgrade. In addition, Etihad guests can choose to offer the vacant seat in Economy Class at an additional fee, for greater privacy and comfort.

The unveiling of the new travel experience comes in the light of a busy year, during which the company last February unveiled a new experience for young stars with the theme of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, across its navy. This was followed by the unveiling of the company’s new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which was commissioned last March, and is the first among five other aircraft of the same model to join the company’s existing fleet. The new aircraft has a new interior cabin design, with advanced seats in Economy Class and Business Class.
