Bentley plans to create airline-inspired rear seats for its luxury cars

Bentley launches an extendable version of the top-selling Bentayga that, according to bosses, offers first-class levels of convenience for airlines.
The new Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) is built to cost around £ 180,000, and possibly more than £ 300,000 in high-specific versions.

Seats are designed to improve the health and well-being of occupants and to make them arrive at their destinations fresher than they already were.

That means it gets the comfort of airline-style seating, massages and improved indoor air quality, which means it could be the world’s first climate sensor system – designed to enhance the comfort inside the cabin of what it calls a big-tour SUV.

The price is generally 15% higher than that of the traditional Bentayga, and the first batch is expected to be delivered this fall.

It will be sold with a twin-speed 4.0-liter V8 under the hood, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which delivers an almighty 550 horsepower and can power this luxury car and its occupants from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds catapult. and up to 100 mph. Where it’s legal – in 10 seconds, a top speed of 180 mph.

The in-proprietary version is likely to follow the more economical 3.0-liter V6, but has yet to be confirmed.

For better turns, the EWB has electronic four-wheel steering for navigating tight corners and now downtown streets, first introduced by Bentley in the new Flying Spur.

Changes to the floor, side panels, doors and roof (including changing the position of the sunroof) increase the wheelbase from 2 995 mm to 3 175 mm and to an overall length of 5 322 mm.

With a tape measure ready, the new Bentley Bentayga EWB extends an extra 180mm over conventional SUVs, which equates to an extra seven inches of legroom at the rear.

Bentley adds that it is longer than any other luxury SUV competitor on the market with more than 40mm Owners can choose from three seat configurations.

The first is a standard 4 + 1 layout, with two outer rear seats with 16 adjustments and a massage facility, along with a transverse middle seat large enough to accommodate a third adult and access to a ski hatch to offer.

The second option is a four-seater setup, with a rear console between the two rear seats – which provides extra storage or a champagne bottle cooler on the Mulliner console, complete with two handmade Cumbria Crystal flutes.

Finally, customers can choose five seats, if they want the rear backrests folded.

There will not be a seven-seater version, as customers have said they appreciate more luxury on the practical side of the Extension model, and there is certainly plenty of evidence for that when it comes to amenities behind.

It features the new Bentley Airline seats that are arguably the most advanced ever in a car, with 22 settings controlled with a compact touchscreen remote control.

In the reclining position, the seat can lean up to 40 degrees, and with the passenger seat motors forward, the leather-finished footrest extends from the rear of the front passenger seat.

In business mode, the seat moves to its most upright position to make work on the road more comfortable, whether from a laptop, making phone calls, or zooming into rapture.

The chairs also come with new Climate Seating technology that observes temperature and surface humidity and then decides whether heat, ventilation or both are used simultaneously to maintain the occupant’s presence in optimal thermal luxury.

Posture also matters, to ensure that the rear passenger stays comfortable throughout the journey, the seat position adjustment system automatically measures pressure across the seat surface and makes precise adjustments to seat position and pressure points.

Over a period of three hours, the system can apply 177 individual pressure changes across six completely independent pressure zones to improve passenger comfort and reduce flight fatigue.

This is an amazing level of attention to detail for your comfort and goes beyond the seats you will get on any first class flight.

Another useful feature is the power tailgates, which can be closed with the push of a button in the center console, rather than extending and closing them themselves.

The British car brand says: The result is a spacious, luxurious and light-filled cabin that showcases traditional Bentley skills and the latest technology.

Chiefs expect EWB to represent up to 45% of all Bentayga sales when the vehicle hits showrooms from the third quarter of this year.
