Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented a report by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Deputy Minister for University Affairs, submitted, checked on the facilities and equipment of the new technological universities, which count 6 in the second phase.

The report said that work is being carried out according to the timetable set for the completion of all construction and equipment for the second phase, which includes the establishment of 6 new technological universities, namely: (Gharbia University of Technology – Sixth October University of Technology – Sponsor El Arab Technology University – East Port Said University of Technology – New Assiut University of Technology New Taibah University of Technology.

The report referred to the results of the meeting of coordinators and representatives of new technological universities, which was recently held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister for University Affairs; To follow up the executive position on the progress of construction and equipment operations for the second phase of the new technological universities, it was also agreed to list the needs of each university in terms of furniture, equipment and equipment for laboratories and define workshops, as well as the components of the information infrastructure, to be compatible with the study programs of each university, in addition to the importance of preparing the new technological universities The latest equipment needed for laboratories and research centers, in accordance is with the functional and educational needs of the new programs that will be offered in these universities.

Adel Abdel Ghaffar, media adviser and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that the technological universities in their first and second phases represent a modern and important side branch in the paths of higher education in Egypt as they aimed at providing. well-trained technical cadres to join the labor market, and the partnerships that these universities hold with Technological universities in some countries of the world with good experience in this training, as well as practical training in factories and companies in the local community around these universities , enables graduates of these universities to meet the needs of today’s labor market locally, regionally and internationally.

In turn, Dr Ahmed Al-Hayawi, Adviser to the Minister of Technical Education, confirmed that the new technological universities will offer study programs that serve the industry in each geographical region, including: metal, wood, engineering, electronics, electrical, spin- and weaving industries, food industries, tourism and transport, pointing out that the purpose of the establishment of technological universities is to provide the internal and external labor market of trained and qualified technicians, and to increase the level of technical education graduates, and explains that they accept high school students with 20% and diploma students for the three- and five-year system or the equivalent, as well as graduates from intermediate institutes with 80% of the The total number of admissions, and everyone who wants to enroll at technological universities, must pass admission tests

Dr. Anwar Ismail, Executive Director of the Fund for Technical Consultation, Studies and Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that the construction and equipment work in the second phase to establish 6 new technological universities, proceed according to the schedule and at an accelerating pace, as implementation rates in some universities have exceeded 94%.

The report dealt with the size of the construction achievements and academic programs in the new technological universities in the second phase, including:

Gharbia University of Technology: The project area is 10,000 square meters with an estimated value of 251.2 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university so far are 89%. The university includes the following academic programs (technology for the operation and maintenance of spinning and weaving equipment – technology for the textile industry – technology for dyeing and textile processing – technology for the manufacture of ready-made garments – technology of metallurgical industries – technology of chemical industries – technology of food industries).

Sixth October University of Technology: The project area is 49,657 square meters with an estimated value of 459.2 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university reach 70% so far. The university includes the following academic programs (technology for the operation and maintenance of spinning and weaving machines – railway technology – tractor technology and agricultural equipment – industrial technology Nutrition – health specialties).

Sponsor El Arab Technological University: The project area is 42 000 m2 with an estimated value of 387.5 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university so far are 94%. The university includes the following academic programs (technology for industry and maintenance of spinning and weaving machines – technology of tractors and agricultural equipment – technology of food industries – health disciplines – technology railways).

East Port Said University of Technology: The project area is 70,140 square meters, with an estimated value of 570 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university are so far 73.3%. The university includes the following academic programs (wood industry technology food industry technology – shipping and port technology – hotel services technology – technology Tourism and travel services).

New Assiut University of Technology: The project area is 65,100 square meters, with an estimated value of 387.5 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university reach 80% so far. The university includes the following academic programs (building and construction technology – electrical) and electronic equipment technology – industry and maintenance technology of transmission and electricity distribution networks and electrical systems – Water technology, environment and pollution – technology of food industries – technology of chemical industries – health specialties).

New Taiba University of Technology: The project area is 130,368 square meters, with an estimated value of 543 million pounds, and the implementation rates of the university reach 83% so far. The university includes the following academic programs (building and construction technology – tourism) and travel services technology – hotel services technology – food industry technology – technology wood industries).

The report stated that technological universities grant the following scientific degrees: (professional higher diploma, professional bachelor’s degree, professional master’s degree and professional doctoral degree) in technology in the specialization, and the Supreme Council of Universities, based on the presentation of the Supreme Council of Technology Education, determines the study requirements for each scientific degree, and all study-related matters.

It is noteworthy that the first phase of the project witnessed the establishment of three technological universities, namely (New Cairo University of Technology – Delta Technology University – Beni Suef University of Technology), and the study took place in the academic year 2019/2020 start.
