The Supreme Court Council for Media Regulation, led by journalist writer Karam Jabr, organized a celebration to mark the handing over of a new batch of licenses and regularization certificates to 100 satellite channels, websites and newspapers, in accordance with the provisions of the Council Act. No. 180 of 2018 and the regulations issued in its implementation.

The celebration was attended by journalist-writer Saleh Al-Salihi, Deputy Secretary of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Adviser Mahmoud Fawzy, Secretary-General, media figure Nashaat Al-Daihi and media figure Rania Hashem, members of the Council, and a large number of of journalists, professional media, board chairmen and editors of newspapers, websites and channel heads.

Journalist writer Karam Jabr added, I congratulate the officials of newspapers, channels and websites today on receiving licenses and certificates to practice the activity, after the council has finished publishing it, adding that the council’s licensing committees are scheduled to complete work, next Sunday, in reviewing and examining all applications and documents submitted by owners. The point is to issue licenses for media outlets and websites and to ensure that the provisions of notices for paper newspapers are completed, to start issuing new licenses.

He explained that the Council is in the process of facilitating and facilitating all procedures for granting licenses to all media shops, and these facilities are accompanied by the implementation of procedures that preserve the rights of all workers in media institutions .

Journalist Karam Jabr shed light on the activity of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation during the last period, adding that the council has issued its annual report, which includes 3 main elements, namely licenses, complaints and the media strategy the council is working to implement.

He said with regard to licenses, the council has taken a very big and advanced step that we are witnessing today. All those who applied to regulate their status have been issued a license, and the rest of the applications and documents submitted by the stakeholders are reviewed. to issue a new batch of licenses.

He added that the council receives and investigates many complaints from stakeholders, explaining that all media outlets should be committed to encouraging opinion, opinion and the other, and that there should be boldness to publish apologies, and says that excuses increase the status of the media, which is better than legal procedures, We must all work to refute and confront and expose fake pages on social media, and it is desirable that the media influence social media and not the other way around.

Journalist Karam Jabr also reviewed the characteristics of the media strategy the council is working on during 2022, stemming from the role the media plays as a gentle force in bringing about the required changes in the field of awareness and awareness. among citizens; In order for them to be active and partners in the development of society, to achieve the “Egypt Vision 2030”, he stressed that the Council is completing its steps in coordination and cooperation with the national press and media organizations to improve the media environment and control the scene.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation indicated that the media strategy of the High Council for Media Regulation is based on various determinants represented in the climate conference and environmental issues, the characteristics of the new republic, upholding the principles of human rights, and emphasizes the development and service projects implemented by the state within the presidential initiative “a decent life” to develop towns Egyptian and national projects and initiatives, as well as to raise awareness, confront rumors, reject hatred, promote sportsmanship and religious to renew discourse.

He added that it is necessary to work on confrontational social networking sites that focus on topics that are not suitable for children, as well as electronic games, which play a major role in the spread of violence among children, and point out the importance of spreading awareness among families and not leaving children prey on social media.

He referred to the role of the Supreme Court in the consolidation of Egyptian-Arab media relations, in the light of the instructions of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to the media on the need for good relations between Egypt and its sister to consolidate Arab countries, work for unity, emphasize the positive aspects and stay away from the causes of dispute, and to expand the media Bridges of consultation, communication, dialogue and exchange of views on various issues affecting the common interests between the two countries, and support for Arab and Islamic issues in a way that brings countries and peoples closer together, adding that it has been agreed that protocols have been signed for cooperation with many Arab countries in the media field on issues of common interest, and notes that the presence of a major role on the media in overcoming Arab issues.

It is noteworthy that Section 6 of Act No. 180 of 2018 provides that “It is not permissible to establish, or manage, websites in the Arab Republic of Egypt, or to operate offices or branches of websites operated from outside the Republic, except after obtaining a license to do so from the Supreme Court In accordance with the controls and conditions it sets forth in this regard … and without prejudice to the penal penalties imposed, the Supreme Court shall, in the event of a breach of the provisions of the preceding paragraph, take the necessary measures, including the cancellation of the license, stopping or blocking the activity of the site, in the event that a valid license is not obtained.

Article 70, the second paragraph, also provides “the receipt of notices of the establishment of Egyptian newspapers, newspapers with a foreign license issued or distributed in Egypt, and the granting of licenses to engage in media activity for audio, visual and digital media registered with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, and for non-Egyptian satellite channels broadcast from within Egypt, in coordination with the various competent authorities, provided that the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, before listing companies with Egyptian or foreign capital referred to, must obtain the approval of the security and competent authorities.
