During the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued zeal for continued cooperation with UNESCO in the fields of education, culture and heritage, and the fruit of this cooperation was UNESCO’s announcement of an award bearing the name of His Majesty the King. Hamad bin Isa dra. Al Khalifa, King of the Great Land, may God protect and sponsor him in the field of The international awards, which affirm His Majesty’s interest, may God preserve and protect him, to render leading educational service worldwide, and to support the humanitarian efforts of UNESCO. This award was approved at the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with the unanimous consent of the organization’s 191 member states. The Minister added that this award, which launched its first session in 2006, is considered one of the most important awards at UNESCO, and it has an excellent international reputation, as evidenced by the number of initiatives applying for the honor of receiving this. The titles offered annually combine to honor modern initiatives, in addition to encouraging access to education for all in all circumstances.

The Minister indicated that this award is intended to support and encourage projects and activities undertaken by individuals, institutions or non-governmental organizations, related to different models and forms of creativity in the use of information and communication technology, in a way that promotes learning, teaching and overall educational achievement, and falls within the framework of UNESCO’s strategic objectives in the field of Education, through experimentation and innovation, dissemination and exchange of information, and the contribution of information and communication technologies to promote the development of education, science and culture. and building a knowledge community.

The Minister explained that the UNESCO Executive Council renewed this award twice, the first time in 2015 for a period extending to six years, and the second time for a period beginning in 2021 and also extending to six years. , in appreciation of the member states of the Council for the great importance and reputation of this important international award. , Britain, Germany, Finland, Belgium. , Spain, Netherlands, China, South Korea, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, India, Bangladesh, Singapore, Tanzania, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and other countries, won the award. .

The minister added that this year’s celebration will be the award of the award to the winning countries during the previous two sessions, which counted four, and to the two winning countries in the current session, after the celebration was postponed due to the conditions of the pandemic , and note that the two winning projects in the eleventh session for the year 2019 AD, entitled (Use of intelligence, the artificial intelligence for innovation in teaching, learning and learning) are the Literos program for writing skills from Brazil and the dyslexia tool . of Spain. In his speech, the Minister also addressed the efforts made by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain to ensure the continuity of education during the pandemic period, in particular the electronic lessons provided by the educational portal, television lessons via Bahrain TV , and video lessons via (14) YouTube channels affiliated with the Ministry, including a channel for people with special needs, and a channel for technical and vocational education, knowing the total number of visits to the educational portal, and the use of the various educational materials contained in the electronic system since the beginning of the pandemic in 2019 AD to date, have exceeded 134 million repeat visits by students, parents and the educational field, and that to take advantage of its educational content , covering (1,048,371) activities and applications, (463,936) lessons, (900,814) enrichment, (634,344) discussion sessions, and (72,526) short tests, and all this content was prepared by teachers, in addition to (14,770) a model prepared by the Curriculum Department.

At the end of the interview, the Minister confirmed that this award receives worldwide attention year after year and that its good reputation among researchers and interested parties is consolidated, due to its global reputation accepted by UNESCO, as well as the high position of the committee. to his arbitration, consisting of a group of the most prominent workers in the field of education and technology, which gives it a prominent global position and impeccable confidence, as this award will remain a testament to the great interest shown by the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches to the educational process, not only at the level of Bahrain but also at world level, to spread its goodness and benefit to all mankind, especially in two areas.
