Current estimates, according to data from the Qatar Chamber, indicate that the number of women who partially or fully own the companies registered in the Chamber is about 7,000 Qatari women, while the number of women who are authorized and have the right to manage in companies is about 4 900. , while the number of authorized signatories is just over 4,700 Qatari women.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the businesswoman, member of the Qatar Chamber Board of Directors and President of the Qatari Businesswomen Forum, Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani, stated that Qatari businesswomen have achieved great success in the business world, and has made a clear impression in various economic sectors, noting that recent years have shown great success. Intensive women’s economic activity, benefiting from the support and prescriptions of the wise leadership and government policies that support women, which focuses on the empowerment of women and the activation of their economic participation.
Al-Ahmadani added that it is natural that these efforts lead to a wide participation of Qatari women in the areas of economic development, and a remarkable presence in the labor market and especially entrepreneurship, and pointed out that the rise of women in the world of finance and business is attributed to Qatari legislation that supports and encourages women to expand business.Without exception and without discrimination, in addition to the facilities provided by the investment environment in the state of Qatar, which encouraged many businesswomen to the demand for investment, as estimates indicate that their investments are estimated at billions of riyals, and are an important part of economic activity in Qatar, representing the growing contribution of women in the national economy year after year.
The president of the Qatari Businesswomen Forum confirms that the strong presence of Qatari women in family businesses is due to the fact that most women start their projects as family businesses and then gradually turn into public or private joint stock companies, in addition to the fact that family businesses are an important part of the Gulf economic legacy, noting that family support, whether material or moral, for businesswomen has greatly contributed to their acquisition of sufficient experience and knowledge to manage large companies and enter various investment sectors, and this type of company has great privacy in management and organization.
She pointed out that the role of Qatari businesswomen is not limited to family businesses, but that there are companies owned and managed by businesswomen who have established themselves, and with individual efforts were able to move them from ideas to companies on the to transform soil.
On the other hand, Al-Ahmadani has noted the existence of some successful partnerships between Qatari businesswomen and their counterparts in Arab and Gulf countries, in various sectors, but they are not of the required size, apart from the importance of partnerships and alliances at the level of businesswomen in the Gulf and Arab businesswomen, and their development among especially business owners in the Gulf. In turn, entrepreneur Haya Al-Dosari said in exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA): “Businesswomen could rise to new heights in economics and investment, noting that the activities related to entrepreneurship are the most dominant among women’s projects. ” The role of Qatari businesswomen was not limited to focusing on traditional sectors such as hospitality and home projects, but rather went beyond investing in various economic activities and sectors.
Al-Dosari added, “There are four main factors behind the growing participation of women in the economic field and the establishment of their commercial entities and investment projects, in particular: the support of wise leadership to empower women in various fields, the enactment of laws and legislation that stimulates investment, provides viable investment opportunities, prepares and trains girls to learn business management and raise awareness of opportunities and project risks, which enhances the role of women in economic and commercial decisions and their participation in the increased investment field.
She pointed out that her experience came from the womb of training and rehabilitation for Qatari businesswomen, explaining that she was one of the graduates of the “Women’s Economic Empowerment Project”, which organized opportunities and workshops for women to train them. leads on how to enter the world of money and business, saying, “I was trained on how to start a business and was followed up after training.” On the proposal of the idea, planning and implementation of the project on the ground .. an integrated program was implemented in this regard, which led to the establishment of three companies, and I am currently reaping the benefits of this amazing work and I have the desire to grow and expand in the future. ”
