The national road project

a. Construction of 7000 km of new roads

– The implementation of projects with a length of (5500) km has been completed, the most important of which are:

Development of the Upper Egypt West Desert Road in the distance from Cairo to Minya, with a length of 230 km, at a total cost of 7 billion pounds.

Development of the Upper Egypt – Red Sea Road (Sohag – Safaga) with a length of 180 km and a cost of one billion pounds.

Construction of the Shubra-Banha freeway, 40 km long and costing £ 3.5 billion.

Construction of the northern arch of the 90 km long regional ring road and costing £ 8 billion.

The construction of the Galala road, with a length of 82 km, at a cost of 4.5 billion pounds.

-Development of the tunnel road – Sharm El-Sheikh with a length of 350 km and a cost of 3.2 billion pounds.

The development of the road from the Martyr Ahmed Hamdy tunnel to Km 109 Suez Road with a length of 24 km and a cost of 870 million pounds.

Construction of the service road on the Cairo-Suez road, in the distance of the regional ring road to the ring road, with a length of 37 km and a cost of 930 million pounds.

-Development and duplication of the Safaga / Qusair / Marsa Alam road, with a length of 200 km and a cost of 1.738 billion pounds.

Development of the Mansoura / Gamasa Road (Rafid Gamasa) with a length of 50 km and a cost of one billion pounds

Development of the Upper Egypt West Desert Road in the distance of Minya to Dayrut with a length of 52 km and the distance from Sebaia – Edfu – Aswan – Toshka with a length of 344 km at a total cost of 8 billion pound.

The development and increase of the efficiency of the 60 km long Suez / Sokhna road at a cost of £ 3.5 billion.

– The duplication of the Assiut-Sohag road, east of the Nile, with a length of 145 km and a cost of 1.35 billion pounds.

Development and duplication of the 6th October / Al-Wahat road, with a length of 283 km, at a cost of EGP 2.2 billion.

Development of the Suez / Ismailia road (the treaty) with a length of 80 km and a cost of 1.5 billion pounds.

Axes of the Nile

– A number of (13) axes (Talkha – Banha – Al-Khatahtbeh – Tahya Misr “Rod Al-Farag-axis” – Helwan – Bani Mazar – Tama – Gerga – Adly Mansour – Samalout – Qus – Kalabsha – Dayrut) have been implemented at a cost of £ 14 billion.

Work progresses with the implementation of (14) axes (Daraw – alternative to the Aswan reservoir – El Fashn – Abu Tig – Tala / Tannoub – Northern Luxor – Shubrakhit – Samanoud – Manfalut – Deshna – Dar al-Salaam – Maragha – Abu Ghaleb – al-Qatta) at a cost of 20 billion fee.

High bridges and tunnels

– (900) bridges and tunnels have been implemented, the most important of which are (Dekernes bridge – Sindoub bridge – 5 bridges on Banha / Mansoura road “Asnett – Kafr Shukr – Beshla – Tanamel – Sahrajt” – Directorate bridge over the railway crossings in Beni Suef – bridges “Qalam” Shamout – Toukh Tanbesha “on the Alexandria Agricultural Road – a bridge at the intersection of the western desert road of Upper Egypt with Fayoum Road – 26 bridges in the Eastern Cairo area – 8 bridges on the team’s al -Assar axis – 14 bridges on the Mahmoudia axis – a bridge that crosses the sea arm link with the road Coastal International (21 km)

Work is progressing on the implementation of (143) bridges and tunnels, the most important of which are (15 bridges on top of railways – 15 pedestrian and motor bridges on Al-Rayah Al-Buhairi – 7 new highways on the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road – a bridge over the Toshka overflow) – bridge extension The Kafoury link, the marine arm link, and the establishment of a turnaround in the direction of Alexandria) and the upper bridges and tunnels on the dual carriageways being built, e.g. as the Zagazig / Sinbillawin Road and the Kafr El Sheikh / Desouq Road.

B. Develop 1000 km of the main road network

Projects with a total length of (7500) km have been implemented, the most recent of which are:

Development of the Al-Mahalla / Kafr El-Sheikh dual carriageway with a length of 32 km and a cost of 650 million pounds.

Development and duplication of Mansoura Road / Talkha bridge entrance with a length of 10 km and a cost of 90 million pounds

Development of El Kafoury / Borg El Arab / Sidi Kerir road, with a length of 28.5 km and a cost of 705 million pounds.

Pavement of the Hall / Catherine road with a length of 65 km and a cost of 315 million pounds.

– Pavement of Dahab / Nuweiba road (phase 2.1) with a length of 50 km at a cost of 100 million pounds.

Work is progressing with the implementation of projects with a length of (2500) km, the most important of which are:

The development of the ring road around Greater Cairo, with a length of 110 km, at a cost of 12 billion pounds.

Construction of the East Winds Tawfiqi Road (the first phase from Benha to Mit Ghamr) with a length of 30 km and a cost of 4.3 billion pounds.

Development and duplication of the road from Talkha entrance to Sherbeen bridge with a length of 12 km and a cost of 398 million pounds.

Construction of the new Zagazig / Sinbillawain road, 37 km long, at a cost of £ 800 million.

Development and duplication of Kafr El-Sheikh / Desouq road (first phase) with a length of 10 km and a cost of 1 billion pounds.

Development and upgrading of the efficiency of Qalyub / Al-Qanater / Al-Bagour-Shebin road with a length of 53 km and a cost of 186 million pounds.

– Duplication of the Qena / Luxor Eastern Desert Road with a length of 144 km and a cost of 915 million pounds

Development and increase of the efficiency of the Aswan-Wadi Allaqi road, with a length of 170 km and a cost of 1.3 billion pounds.

local roads

Implementation of the national project for paving local roads within the governorates under the supervision of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges Work is underway in the first phase of the project within 12 governors, which counts 225 projects, at a cost of about £ 2 billion 202 projects have been implemented.

The second phase of the national project has been launched to pave local roads within the governorates, and a protocol has been signed between the General Authority for Roads and Bridges with 4 governorates for the government to implement a number of projects before to set, assign and supervise. , namely:

Menoufia Governorate (second phase) with 75 projects at a total cost of EGP 175.2 million, and implementation completed

Fayoum Governorate (second phase) with 42 projects at a total cost of £ 243 million, and the implementation rate was 98%

Assiut governor, with 10 suburbs, at a total cost of 300 million pounds, and the implementation rate was 85%

Kafr El-Sheikh Governor, with 62 projects, at a cost of £ 180 million. All projects were awarded, and the implementation rate reached 1%.

Road projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport within the first phase, a decent life initiative, 166 projects are implemented in 20 governors with a total length of 1,113 km at a cost of 6.7 billion pounds

The application of the intelligent transport system ITS

Starting the smart transport system by using the latest information technology methods in managing the transport system and using the latest electronic gate devices, sensors, scales, cameras and radars to increase safety levels on the road network and reduce accidents. The project was assigned to an Egyptian global alliance.

– 7 roads with a total length of 1189 km were selected as a first phase to implement the smart transport system, then the second phase with a total of 15 roads with a length of 5195 km, which increased the number of axles and roads on 22 roads with a length of 6384 km
