The Minister of Communications sees the launch of the electronic signature services “Delta Trust”

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the launch ceremony of electronic signature services “Delta Trust”, in collaboration between Telecom Egypt WE and Delta Electronic Systems, which obtained a license to practice the activity of providing electronic signature services, and it comes within the framework of efforts to expand the provision of digital services to companies and institutions and individuals in support of the digital transformation strategy in Egypt.

Under the cooperation with Delta Electronic Systems, Telecom Egypt WE, the first integrated operator of communication and information technology services in Egypt, provides electronic signature services to companies and individuals through its branches, sales centers and exchanges, contributing to the expansion of the base of electronic signature usage , increasing the efficiency of administrative work and improving digital services provided to citizens.

This step is in line with the state’s orientation to implement a digital transformation strategy, whereby new services provide citizens with the necessary tools to deal with digital services, such as the services of the tax authority, customs, the Investment Authority, social insurance, and others government and non-government services that are successively automated. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology said that the ministry’s strategy is based on three main axes, providing more management and easier services to the citizen, and developing a secure digital infrastructure that citizens with all digital services at a high level of efficiency, continuity and stability, in addition to creating a base of cadres capable of reaching and building Egypt. He pointed out that this event combines these three pillars, as it represents a new stage in Egypt’s digital journey, as the activation of the electronic signature system must build a set of applications dependent on this important technology, which provides a qualitative represents a leap in the services provided to citizens. Explanation of the efforts made to increase the efficiency of the digital infrastructure to ensure its ability to provide electronic signature services and the services dependent on them in a stable and stable manner; He emphasized the ministry’s diligence that the launch of projects is accompanied by the building of specialized human cadres capable of managing and developing them.

Talaat pointed out that this event reflects the joint efforts of all elements of the ICT sector system to provide electronic signature services. Point out that the electronic signature system has not previously been activated in Egypt due to the lack of applications that require electronic signature; He explained that it starts to be activated by the first axis, which is related to applications between government agencies, where the law enforcement system was launched; With the move of the government to the new administrative capital, the employees of the administrative apparatus will practice their work using the electronic signature; Point out that the second axis relates to companies through the application of the electronic invoice in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, and investment and corporate services will be launched with this technology; The third axis is the provision of citizen services dependent on this technology in collaboration with all government agencies, where collaboration with the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs has been initiated to provide consular services using electronic signatures, which by the end of this year.

Eng Amr Mahfouz, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority, explained that the launch of this service comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to spread the uses of electronic signature on a large scale in collaboration with the private sector, which contributes to the management of electronic activities and transactions. He pointed to the steady growth in the volume of electronic signature transactions, as it was around 3 million at the end of 2020, then reached more than 153 million by the end of 2021, and then exceeded 197 million in the first half of this year. He emphasized that this growth came as a result of the launch of a number of projects and services launched in collaboration with various parties, based on electronic signature technology.

Engineer Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, said that the company is “eager to effectively contribute to all projects that support the digital transformation strategy in Egypt, of which in particular electronic signature services are provided to individuals and companies in a way which the efficiency of administrative work and the system of digital services provided to customers,” and added, “We are happy with this new step that the company has taken to consolidate its leading position, support business sectors and innovative applications and new to provide services that help them achieve their business digitally, we have ambitious plans in collaboration with Delta Electronic Systems to expand the base of electronic signature users in Egypt.”

This was evident in several projects currently being implemented , such as the electronic invoice with the Tax Authority and a window program with the Customs Authority We hope that in the future the electronic signature will spread to include all sectors of the state, such as banks, courts and the property registry, and all this comes in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision.”
