The faculties of Kafrelsheikh University are witnessing remarkable activity in inventing robots in all fields to serve the society. There are many graduation projects for students from the faculties of artificial intelligence, engineering, computers and information. Among these important projects are the projects of a self-propelled robot and encouraging students to invent it to harness technology for the environment and human health; The project eliminates weeds by using a very small dose of herbicide without harming the main crop. It also limits the spread of harmful chemicals in the atmosphere and prevents them from penetrating into the soil.

Ibrahim Al-Sayed Al-Abbasi, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Saeed, Muhammad Osama Abu Saada, Ziad Muhammad Al-Nashtawi, Muhammad Osama Kamel, Ahmad Ragab Massad, Aya Hossam Sharif, Esraa Khaled Al-Sharif, Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Nawasra, Muhammad Montaser Al-Shennawy, and Ibrahim Khaled Al-Jundi participated in the graduation project.

Dr. Abdel Fattah Hillel, Dean of the College of Engineering, said that there were many graduation projects for students, and they were distinguished by their services to the environment in all sectors and fields, including the invention of a self-propelled robot that performs a completely independent process, emphasizing that he praises this innovation and the students deserve to be honored.

Ibrahim Al-Sayed Al-Abbasi added: The robot is equipped with a camera that enables it to identify weeds with high accuracy using computer vision technology (Computer vision), which is designed to monitor crop rows and detect the presence of weeds between rows, then target those weeds and spray them with a low dose of herbicide; Which helps to reduce costs, as well as the environmental impact, and the robot is equipped with a solar panel that charges batteries with solar energy; This saves energy and enables the robot to work for longer periods of time.

Al-Abbasi continued: “To design the robot, we started by defining the function we want to achieve, and this will be through the need for a robot that moves through crops in the agricultural land and a secondary robot that spraying pesticides on weeds. mobile robot Equipped with a movement mechanism seesaw bogie mechanism It is mainly used for space exploration flights and was very suitable for agricultural land and greatly facilitated the movement of the robot, and the secondary robot was Delta Robot Our choice of it was due to its light weight and speed of movement, and therefore its suitability for agricultural application. Regarding the places for the distribution of electrical parts, it was taken into account to match the application and achieve safety standards and control and make modification easier.

Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Saeed added: As for the programming and control part, the robot works to identify weeds through a camera connected to the Raspberry Pi via computer vision In turn, it compares the images taken from the camera withdataset enrolled in thesoftware As a result of this comparison, weed locations are determined, and thus the arm (delta) by going to the coordinates entered into it, then it sprays the weeds and returns again to its main position, and this process takes place in conjunction with the process of determining the paths made by the Rasperbee which is partially used Mobile robot Through the camera installed in the front, which makes the movement completely self-sufficient without the intervention of the human factor, since I am the two parts: delta robot And the mobile robot They work synchronously so that if a weed is identified, the robot stops spraying for one second and then the robot starts working again.

Muhammad Osama Abu Saada said: Our main goal in the project is to harness technology for the sake of the environment and human health; The project works to get rid of weeds by using a very small dose of herbicides without compromising the main crop. And Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Nawasreh added: It consists of an electrical system that connects the motors, batteries, pump and solar system, a compact system (Embedded) connects the Raspberry Pi with the first camera that will be used to enable the wheeled robot to move on the agricultural land and avoid obstacles, and the second camera that will precisely locate the location of the weeds that the robot arm will move and spray Plus a sprinkler system where the pump delivers the herbicide from the tank to the injector.
