The head of the Department of Information Systems at the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Hussain Mohsen Al-Areedh, confirmed that students benefit from information systems courses, apply what was learned in graduation projects and use modern communication and information. technology, through the development of systems and applications that serve the individual and society, and contribute to the increase of Practical research and knowledge production for graduates of the department.
He added that the graduation project course is one of the approved courses to complete the graduation requirements at the College of Information Technology, and is the culmination of the student’s achievement during his university studies. Due to its importance, an exhibition of graduation projects is held at the end of each semester, in which projects that have passed the evaluation committees of the department are presented. The exhibition enjoys interest and interaction from various professional sectors in the Kingdom, as the three best projects are selected – after passing the arbitration process by a committee of experienced external arbitrators in the information systems sectors – to then honor the winning teams in the first. places.
The Head of the Graduation Projects Committee in the Information Systems Department, Dr. Amal Muhammad Al-Rayes, explained the importance of completing the graduation project to qualify postgraduate students to engage in the work environment in the future. To complete the course requirements, work in a team is required to acquire several skills, including: the skill to identify a researchable problem in a field related to information systems, the application of analytical and statistical knowledge to data display, process and interpret, the development of information systems according to modern needs and requirements, in addition to the skill of academic writing by writing a research report Complete with original sources, time management to achieve project objectives on time, project presentation and verbal defense of opinion. The department’s graduation projects committee forms committees to evaluate projects at the end of the semester, consisting of internal and external examiners who are selected to match the project’s topic, and to be from the appropriate sector in the labor market, in order for the department’s projects and outputs.
The “Inspiring” project, a Bahraini training program, won first place from the work of students Ahmed Abdel Rahim Marhoon, Hussein Abdel Latif Hussein, and Mishaal Waheed Janahi, under the supervision of Dr. Ghadeer Ismail Mohamed. The second place was awarded to the project “The Idea of ​​​​the Higher Information Technology Project”, from the work of students Zainab Khader Hassan, Hamda Rashid Al-Qais, and Yara Walid Al-Amin, under the supervision of Dr. Ghadeer Ismail Muhammad and Muhammad Siddiqi. The third place was won by the project “Al-Nour Site for Preserving the Noble Qur’an”, from the work of students Tahira Bassem Ahmed, Rawan Marwan Nasser, and Hussam Abdeen Hamid, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Zaki.
Regarding the winning projects in the last second semester, the student Ahmed Marhoon said that the “Mulham” platform is an easy-to-use educational platform, suitable for everyone, and strives for more efficient and effective learning. He added that the project is looking for recent developments in the field of open educational curricula, to create an educational portal that provides all learners around the world with professional educational courses that can be updated.
The student, Yara Al-Amin, indicated that the project’s goal is to provide an online tool to simplify the system of the “Information Technology Senior Project Idea” system at the University of Bahrain. Automation of processes and coordination with all parties (student, supervisor, team members and project committee) within one system to complete the project selection process and work on it efficiently. The system requirements were determined based on the analysis of similar systems, to determine the features that could be implemented, and then the system was developed using the PHP programming language. The student added: “The test proved that the system is successful, and it can be implemented and used by the Department of Information Systems and all university departments. It will also help to encourage collaborative research between university professors and students.”
The student, Hossam Abdeen, expressed his hope that the Nour program for Quranic memorization will contribute to the dissemination of Quranic sciences to people via the Internet, and deliver lessons on Quranic memorization to all students in their localities, with the expectation that the student will entire Holy Qur’an by developing a tool that predicts the timing of the student’s sealing of the Qur’an and monitors its performance. The website records the performance of each student, and accordingly, it helps teachers and administrators to evaluate students, make various decisions, and anticipate, manage, and plan the period of students’ memorization of the Holy Qur’an. He added, “The system for memorizing the Noble Qur’an has been completed and verified through various tests, in order to provide its services fully and satisfactorily to users.”
