The case of famous Israeli players accused of raping two underage girls has resurfaced, with Israeli Channel 13 publishing new evidence that contradicts the idea that they did not know the ages of the two girls, claims that the charge against them would have been dropped when the case first appeared about two years ago.
The Israeli channel published the correspondence of soccer players Omer Atzeli (26), who plays in the Israeli national team, and Dor Micah (28) about the two girls who were 15 years old at the time of the incident, proving their knowledge that their underage for sex, and despite that they took part in a crazy sex party with them.
Haaretz said that while this summer was filled with scandals, “nothing captured the hearts of Israelis like this issue.”
The case, according to Haaretz, dates back to June 2020, when two soccer stars playing in the country’s most prominent club, Maccabi Tel Aviv, were involved in a sexual affair, without specifying their identities.
They were investigated for having sex with two girls under the age of 16, a crime that could land them in prison for up to five years. Investigations revealed that the players met the two girls at a party and exchanged phone numbers and contacted them.
Their names were later released “after a failed attempt to obtain a gag order,” and they admitted to having sex with them but denied knowing they were under 16 years old.
Although they denied any wrongdoing, they apologized to their fans on social media. Micah wrote: “Although I was convinced they were 18, meaning adults, I should have been more careful because I’m a famous figure and role model for many young people. So I’m sorry if there are people who have been disappointed. It seems that the damage to my image will be with me for the rest of my life.”
His colleague wrote: “I made a moral mistake. I apologize to every boy or girl who is forced to ask their parents what happened to me and to every parent who is forced to explain.”
Despite this, the club insisted on terminating their services, but fans of the players launched a campaign against the two girls on the Internet, which included insults and threats, and there were protests that the two girls accused of seducing the players, causing the destruction of their football career.
In the future, the lawyers of the two girls and their families insisted that the players were the ones who asked them to meet in an apartment, saying that they had caused serious psychological damage to them, and confirmed that the players were fully aware that they were high school students.
The head of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, Orit Solitzino, described the case as “an extreme case of sexual exploitation of minors.”
Only three months after the scandal, the prosecutor’s office announced that the case was being dropped because the two girls hid their ages.
As a result, the two players worked to overcome this crisis by rehabilitating themselves, and left the country to play in Cyprus, then returned to Israel again, where Micah joined the “Hapoel Beersheba” team, while Atazili with Maccabi Haifa signed, and played the main role. with the team, and was His choice of the Israeli national team.
But the case erupted again with the publication, last week, by the Israeli Channel 13, of leaks that refuted these claims, as it published text messages between the players that revealed their clear knowledge of the ages of the two girls and that they were concerned was about It.
The letters reveal that they plan to give the girls alcohol and drugs, despite knowing their ages.
“It will be just the four of us,” Micah wrote in a letter. “We drink and hang out. I’m in favor of bringing some powder (presumably cocaine), but it depends on how willing they are.”
And his colleague replied: “I have no problem with that, but not with them. They are not 18 yet. They are in 12th grade, you should forget about it.” He said the idea of using drugs with young girls was “terrifying”.
The two players shared their photos from private social media to determine if they are attractive enough to take the risk.
Haaretz says they repeatedly referred to the two girls using a Hebrew word for children, not young women.
The newspaper described the allegations as a “moral crime, especially as the players are role models for young people and supporters” and said the new evidence cast a shadow over the prosecution’s decision to drop the case, highlighting the accountability of some teams around their players for such behavior while other teams ignore it.
She referred to a series of scandals that have been revealed, such as the case of Israeli singer Eyal Golan, who is suspected of having sexual relations with underage girls “with their consent” during “group sex parties interspersed with smoke smuggling.”
It also referred to allegations of sexual slavery inflicted on female guards by inmates of the Gilboa Maximum Security prison in northern Israel.
In light of the new leaks, the media and social media in Israel are filled with calls to reconsider his continued playing football, especially Atazili, who plays in the country’s national team.
One commenter wrote: “A man like this should not be carrying our flag.”
Feminist groups called on police to reopen the investigation into the case following the latest report, but the players’ lawyers argued that the report was based on “fabricated” text messages, calling the report “fake news ” described.
And a report on the Channel 13 website said: “The correspondences revealed directly affected two girls at the age of fifteen … childhoods that have not recovered since.”
Another wrote on Twitter: “It’s time for all parties involved to take responsibility: The Football Association needs to make a clear statement: ‘Do these players deserve to wear the national team kit?’
“The sexual terrorism committed by Atzili and Micah was as bad as the rape of a female soldier in Gilboa prison,” wrote one commenter:
