Philosophy .. Philosophy as it should be understood (1)

In our previous article, entitled “An Essay on Love of Reading and Serious Culture”, we concluded with a question: Do all kinds of books and knowledge guarantee our true knowledge? Is there a science without another in which I can invest my free time, to come out of it with thorough and honest knowledge? We will answer these two questions in order. As for the first question, of course not, but there is one science without another which is the key to all sciences. As for the second question, yes, there is a science in which I can invest my free time, and come out of it with a good knowledge and cultural outcome. These two answers lead us to a third question, namely, who is this science capable of being a key to science, and at the same time can I come out of it with an understandable and simplified cultural outcome? This science is philosophy, and you should know, dear reader, that philosophy is one of the branches of the humanities, rather the most important and comprehensive branch of the humanities. Philosophy is the mother of all sciences.

Therefore, we wanted the subject of this article to be simple, understandable and applied knowledge of this momentum knowledge branch, away from philosophical theories in an abominable way, so that we can stand on a correct and healthy understanding of philosophy, away from the statements of those who got it wrong. In order to complete this understanding, we will make the subject of the following articles related to philosophy in terms of understanding it and connecting it to reality and helping us in the affairs of life. So that we can stand before the claims of those who say that philosophy is far from reality and life.

Let’s be real! This is the common phrase among us these days, and it indicates that we are awakening from our long slumber, shedding our deluded illusions and realizing the importance of reality. But attention to reality does not benefit or achieve its purpose unless its basis is the study of reality through observation, comparison, deduction and experimentation in order to understand it correctly.

The question now is, did any of us seriously care about such a study? Let’s also ask, what is this study that can properly evaluate reality, away from violations and naiveties?
Philosophy, only philosophy can provide us with a serious and honest study of reality. Through philosophy, man could overcome the tyranny of predestination with him, the dominance of superstitions over his mind and the threat of nature to the elements of his life. It is by overcoming natural and human addiction in all its forms without the contingencies of fate and the whims of men having any control over it. Until the end of the first half of the nineteenth century, philosophy was concerned with political and social issues without anyone making a definitive distinction between “philosophical speculation” and “scientific evidence”.

It is often thought that the study of philosophy is very difficult and does not add anything new to reality. We never deny the difficulties encountered in every study in general and in the study of philosophy in particular, but these difficulties are quite liable to humiliation, as they arise from the fact that they speak of new things to many readers .

At first glance, the word “philosophy” does not inspire confidence in many, especially among the hard-working. Because they believe that the philosopher is a person who floats with his thoughts in space without his feet firmly on the ground, and (philosophizing) in their perception is a form of manipulation of ideas in which some of those who are acquainted with its secrets is, specialize. , and does not mean at all those who live by the sweat of their brow.

As for the word means in common usage. As for the person who drowns in imagination or who takes things optimistically, the one who “carries no worries.” The opposite is true. The philosopher is the one who wants to find accurate answers to some questions, and if we think that philosophy wants to give an explanation for the problems of the universe, (How did the world exist? And where is destiny? ) This means that the philosopher cares about many things and that, contrary to rumours, he “carries great concern”.

This was also confirmed by the Enlightenment philosopher “Roger Paul Droit”, who says: “The word “philosophy” often arouses fear, since we imagine that the questions it poses are terribly complex, and that their vocabulary is vague, and philosophy books do not even understand their titles, it’s an independent world unto itself. , is limited to some rare specialist, who may look like extraterrestrials. In short, philosophy is not an activity open to everyone, and we may be mistaken if we think so.”

Dear reader, the true, peaceful philosophy that deserves its title is the philosophy that springs from the bottom of the earth, a philosophy that arises from the progress of work that studies the phenomena of nature to use its powers for the benefit of man subordinate. Seated companions or Nzron motionless. According to the consensus of those who work in philosophy: “Philosophy wants to explain the universe and nature, and it is the study of the most general problems, because the less general problems are studied by the sciences, so philosophy is an extension of the sciences. in the sense that it is based on and related to them.”

Philosophy is one of the weapons of the struggle of thought, enlightenment and serious culture, but we need philosophy of a certain kind, a philosophy that proclaims the meanings of struggle and sacrifice, that makes him believe in the possibilities of reality , revives hope for the future within himself, and establishes confidence in the inevitability of victory.

To the Greeks, philosophy meant (love of knowledge), and this is the exact meaning of the word (philosophy), meaning (love of knowledge), from which the word philosophy is derived, and knowledge means knowledge of (the world and man ). ), and so through this knowledge (philosophy) man could clarify the rules of human action and a specific point of view about life, and the wise is the one who acts in all matters according to such rules which are based on knowledge of the world and man. Philosophy has existed since that era; Because it expresses a need, and this word often gives different meanings, but the most stable of these meanings is philosophy, a comprehensive concept (conception in the traditional language of philosophy) of the world from which we can a certain way of behavior derive.

Philosophy is neither hard work nor a natural and spontaneous activity, since we can practice it on many levels, as we play music, play sports or solve mathematics, as beginners, practitioners, hobbyists or professionals. Philosophy in its simplest sense is “a form of thinking, searching for facts and chasing after illusions.”

Before I move to the end of our article, I will introduce to you the word philosophy and its opposite in Greek and English, so that our eyes may know the form of the Greek drawing, which is Φίλοςσοφία, and the English form of philosophy, especially the Greek drawing, according to what we mentioned above that philosophy is known in its healthy sense of love Wisdom or knowledge we give it back to Greece.

Finally, what concerns us here is to start away from illusions, prejudices or foggy visions. We begin to read and understand this science, through which we can read the past, keep track of the present and anticipate the future. The question that has now arisen within us, through the reading of philosophy, can we achieve a true vision of reality that does not have impurities that blur the characteristics of reality, and give us a good arrangement for the future give, or do we lack an intermediary between us and reading and understanding philosophy until we reach this vision and that arrangement? This will be the subject of our next article.
