The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, conducted an inspection tour of the Knowledge City being built in the New Administrative Capital on the latest technological systems to build an integrated information society that attracts global investment and stimulates digital creativity.
The Minister inspected the construction works, and was thoroughly informed about the executive position of the first phase of the project, which is expected to be completed during this year.
The first phase of Knowledge City includes 4 buildings: the Center for Applied Innovation and Electronic Design, the Misr Informatics University, the Center for Innovation of Assistive Technologies, in addition to a training center that includes the Information Technology Institute and the National Telecommunications Institute.
Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized that Knowledge City is one of the most prominent pioneering projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the context of building a digital Egypt, including its multiple activities to support research and innovation in advanced technologies, develop digital skills. , stimulate digital creativity and attract investments by global technology companies, as well as adapt advanced technologies to advance the digital transformation process in Egypt.
The Minister was accompanied during the tour by Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Infrastructure, Engineer Raafat Hindi, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Ing. Amr Mahfouz, Advisor to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology for Technological Innovation and the electronics industry, dr. Hossam Othman, and director of the Information Technology Institute, dr. Heba Saleh dr. Eman Ashour, director of the National Institute of Communication, President of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Abdel Moneim El Sharkawy, and president of Egypt Informatics University, Dr Reem Bahgat.
Dr. During his visit to Egypt Informatics University, Amr Talaat witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between Egypt Informatics University and Telecom Egypt, which aims to provide Telecom Egypt with financial support to finance 16 full scholarships for high school seniors at the level of the Republic, as a strategic sponsor for their studies at the university within the initiative of the President Abdel Fattah Sisi.
The protocol was signed by the president of Egypt Informatics University, dr. Reem Bahgat, and the executive vice president of human resources at Telecom Egypt, Karim Youssef.
Dr. Amr Talaat also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Misr Informatics University; With the aim of integrating and empowering persons with disabilities in the university education system, supporting scientific research, development and entrepreneurship in the field of assistive technologies, in addition to participating in applied scientific research and collaboration in laboratories, and this comes within the framework of the national plan of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to support and develop the capacities of persons with disabilities.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the President of the National Academy for Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Abdel Moneim El Sharkawy, and Dr. Reem Bahgat, President of the Egyptian Informatics University.
The Minister of Communications pointed out that the two agreements signed come as a continuation of the effective partnerships established by the Egyptian Informatics University to create a leading educational and research environment and a base of digital frameworks and informatics – to create experts. The two agreements support the university’s efforts to provide full scholarships to high school graduates, support research and development, and encourage entrepreneurship in the field of assistive technologies.
In a related context, the Minister of Communications held an interactive dialogue that lasted for more than two hours with the students of Misr Informatics University to listen to their opinions and suggestions and learn about their future vision for the university and success stories. their ideas and scientific vision that they acquired during the study period.
Dr. Amr Talaat explained that the Misr Informatics University offers excellent training opportunities for university students in cooperation with international companies, and pointed out that leaders and officials of international companies specialized in the fields of communication and information technology will be invited to have extensive discussions with university students. keep. and raise awareness of the various technological disciplines and fields required in the current and futuristic labor market.
It is worth mentioning that Misr Informatics University is the first university in the Middle East and Africa specialized in the field of communication and information technology and the areas affected by it. It was established by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
