Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, today, Tuesday, held an extensive meeting, at the ministry’s headquarters in Zamalek, with a number of tourist investors to discuss preparations for the winter tourism season, in an effort to stem the influx of incoming tourist traffic to Egypt, in the presence of the Deputy Minister for Tourism Affairs and the President of the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers. The CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the assistant ministers for controlling hotel establishments, shops and tourism activities, technical affairs, the head of the central administration of tourism companies in the ministry, a number of the minister’s advisers and assistants, and the head of the Business Management Committee at the Chamber of Tourist Travel Companies and Agencies And the president of the South Sinai Investors Association, the vice president of the Red Sea Investors Association, and a number of members of the Tourism Chambers and Tourist Investors.
The Minister started the meeting by welcoming those present, expressing his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, the former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, for his efforts during his assumption of the portfolio of antiquities and then tourism and antiquities, citing his contributions to the promotion of the tourism sector in Egypt and increasing the efficiency of performance in the ministry. He also emphasized the continuity of cooperation between the ministry and the private tourism sector to stimulate, empower and increase the number of tourists, income, and profits to achieve the common goal of promoting the tourism sector in Egypt in a way that benefits employment in the Egyptian tourism sector and society as a whole, pointing to the importance of the tourism industry and its role in the national economy.
During the meeting, the promotional activities listed on the agenda of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation during the coming period to revive and promote the Egyptian tourist destination were reviewed, in addition to the launch of the promotional campaign for Egypt during the last quarter of this year, which will be implemented in light of the new media strategy to promote tourism to Egypt, prepared by a Canadian alliance English during 2021, in addition to participating in international exhibitions, hosting conferences, organizing professional induction visits for international tourism federations and other promotional activities Egyptology, and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb. It was also pointed out that the implementation of the decision on the minimum prices for accommodation in hotel establishments at the republic level will start from the beginning of next November, within the framework of the state’s zeal to raise the level of services provided to tourists to grade. especially in light of the ministry’s re-evaluation of hotel establishments in the Egyptian governorates. According to the new classification criteria (HC).
During the meeting, the head of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers emphasized the existing and ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the private tourism sector, and the sector’s zeal to increase the competitiveness of the Egyptian tourist destination among the ranks of the world, which points to the national strategy for sustainable tourism in Egypt, which includes proposed solutions to some of the challenges it faces The tourism sector in Egypt.
Tourist investors referred to the support provided by the Egyptian state to the private tourism sector during the Corona virus pandemic, in addition to reviewing the positive indicators of the winter tourist season, especially in Upper Egypt.
The minister also listened to the suggestions of investors to encourage domestic tourism, support and increase the inbound tourist movement to Egypt, especially in preparation for the winter tourist season. The challenges and problems facing the tourism industry in Egypt, were also discussed, incentives were given and the state continued to support the sector.
At the end of the meeting, the minister emphasized that the proposals and problems raised by investors will be studied to find appropriate solutions and the necessary implementation steps will be developed with the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers and Chambers, and will work to efficiency of the infrastructure in the tourist governorates, and provide different tourist experiences to enrich the experience of tourists during their visit to the tourist destination.
After the meeting, Ahmed Al-Wasif, head of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, would like to emphasize that the first meeting with the minister was fruitful and that everyone had a strong impression that the coming period will be a continuation of the close cooperation . between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the private tourism sector, which will have the greatest impact on maximizing the contribution of tourism in the recovery of the national economy.
