A high-level delegation from Portugal, within the framework of a trade mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is on an official visit to the Kingdom to meet with officials in the Saudi Ministry of Investment with the aim of exploring opportunities discussed to improve bilateral business and trade between the Kingdom and the Republic of Portugal in the wood and home furniture sector.
The Portuguese trade mission is visiting Saudi Arabia on the occasion of holding major industrial exhibition events — the Hotel Show in Saudi Arabia 2022 and Index Saudi Arabia 2022, from September 6 to 8 at the Riyadh International Exhibition and Conference Center. Associated Design, a brand created by the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries (AIMMP), will present the exhibition “Products for Interior Design Made in Portugal”, at Stand A141 in Hall 1, at the Saudi Hotel Show.
Vitor Bocas, President of the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries (AIMMP), said: “The Portuguese trade mission is visiting Saudi Arabia with big plans to strengthen bilateral trade relations. We expect the meeting with key decision-makers in the Saudi Ministry of Investment will lead to new initiatives and agreements that will promote cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons, and the Portuguese trade mission aims to take advantage of investment opportunities in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Portugal by strengthening cooperation and trade to develop and investment partnerships in the targeted sector.
His Excellency Mr. Nuno Voltaire Mathias, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is scheduled to visit the exhibition “Interior design products made in Portugal”, organized by “Associative Design – Best of Portugal” at the Hotel Show. .
With the participation of 21 high-end Portuguese brands, the Portuguese Wood and Furniture Industry Association looks forward to promoting Portuguese-made furniture and interior design products and brands worldwide, as well as showcasing its capabilities to undertake technologically and aesthetically advanced design projects on a large scale.
Bocas added, “In conjunction with the exhibition, we will showcase a list of high-end furniture brands under the umbrella of “Associative Design – The Best of Portugal” at the Hotel Show in Saudi Arabia. The participating brands will showcase a variety of designs that contain wonderful and innovative Portuguese touches that complement aesthetic concepts of traditional Arab culture. Our visitors will witness a mix of innovation, sustainability and modern designs, in addition to displaying exclusive pieces bearing the signatures of their owners.”
He continued, “Following the economic boom and recent multiple developments and projects in Saudi Arabia, we are looking at the Kingdom as a growing market for home sector exports. Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s leading countries that markets to thrive in a post-pandemic world We are confident in its growth prospects Portuguese brands in light of the major initiatives launched by the Saudi government to develop the tourism and hospitality sector.

In addition, the program includes the participation of Portuguese designers and architects, Carlos Melo and Arthur Soures, as keynote speakers at INDEX Design Talks, which will be held as part of INDEX Saudi 2022, on September 7 at 9:40 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. ., respectively. Carlos Melo will speak on the topic “The Essence of the Designer and the Legacy of Design,” while Arthur Sowers will give a presentation focusing on “The Evolution of Design Technology and Architecture.”
