Al-Sahwa – Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the Baseer Exhibition for Design and Art was opened at Bait Al-Zubair, organized by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences represented by the Design Department at the College of Creative Industries in Nizwa This exhibition comes within the memorandum of understanding signed between the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Nizwa and Bait Al Zubair Foundation.
The opening ceremony included a speech by Bait Al Zubair presented by Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Hasani, Director of Bait Al Zubair Museum, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of this collaboration between the university and Bait Al Zubair. Bint Muhammad Al-Amriya, Dean of the College of Creative Industries at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, gave a speech on this occasion in which she gave an overview of design and its importance in the life of the individual and society and a detailed outline of the design program and the specializations in the program After that, the visual presentation reviewed the phases of work in the student projects that participated in the exhibition.
The exhibition included more than 100 student works that included students’ work in the fields of graphic design, photography, recycling and various artworks included in the design courses, in addition to some graduation projects for students from the Design Department.
On the general impression of the exhibition, His Excellency, the sponsor of the event, said:
What we have seen in this exhibition of student creativity in the field of design is a source of pride and pride in the talents of young students of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences The administrative and academic staff whose work we honor and praise and praise their efforts, and we hope that this exhibition will be one of the stimulating environments and effective partnership with the community and the business sector to improve proficiency in learning, scientific research and innovation, leading to integration between the academic and business sectors.
The exhibition aims to highlight the work of students from the Design Department at the College of Creative Industries at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, which comprises three main subjects: graphic design, interior design and multimedia design.
It is worth mentioning that this exhibition is the first of its kind in collaboration with the Bait Al Zubair Foundation and organized by the department outside Nizwa, opening the way for a large segment of the society to learn about the courses and productions of the design program students and what the university offers creative graduates to the labor market.
The exhibition is a valuable opportunity for design students to present the results of their projects in design courses to different groups of society, broadening their horizons and enabling them to use their creativity and the mechanism to achieve the result with knowledge and express insight into the design. process.
About the exhibition Dr. Fatima Al-Amriya, dean of the College of Creative Industries at the university: Today, the Basayer Exhibition for Design and Art, in its entirety and its various creative fields, moves from the university branch in Nizwa. to cross the borders of the governorates and is a guest of the Bait Al Zubair Foundation, thus documenting the ties of cooperation between the two institutions, especially after the signing of the memorandum of cooperation on January 10, 2022 AD. Through this, we aim to spread awareness of the importance of design and its various fields and introduce the skills of design students at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences so that this knowledge reaches the largest segment of Omani society.
The student, Malak Ali Al-Abri, majoring in interior design, said: “Today we are very happy to participate and benefit from the Basayer exhibition, as such exhibitions promote the spirit of communication and the sharing of ideas and strengthen creativity among the participants. As a student at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, I see the Insair exhibition as a great dose of motivation to continue the design journey. Many of the department’s students majoring in graphic, interior and multimedia design participate in the exhibition, and it includes works for basic courses that the student studies on his/her Bachelor of Design studies.
A large number of members of the university’s academic and administrative bodies and those interested in the technical side and university students participated in the opening ceremony.
The participants expressed their joy at the various creations they saw in this exhibition and expressed their gratitude to all the organizers of this exhibition for the efforts made to produce this wonderful work of art. The exhibition is scheduled to continue until October 4, 2022.
