Abu Dhabi, UAE: Aldar Properties (“Aldar”) – in partnership with Diamond Developers – has launched the “Sustainable City – Yas Island” project, a sustainable community that offers a new lifestyle for residents of Abu Dhabi. Building on the same strengths as Dubai’s sustainable city, this project encourages its residents to stroll through its green open spaces, quiet lanes and lush community farms.

The new sustainable city project mediates a green agricultural area that extends along the community, and includes gardens, lakes and bio-domes in which vegetables will be grown and distributed throughout the community. The Sustainable City focuses primarily on building a vibrant community with many community amenities including an equestrian center with stables, a track and field, a gymnasium, swimming pools, jogging and cycling tracks, football, basketball and rowing courts, in addition to many other facilities, shops, food and beverage outlets, a nursery, an autism center and a sustainable green mosque.

This low-emission community also offers a network of bike lanes and rechargeable battery-powered carts, allowing residents and visitors to move around the development and keep their cars on the perimeter. The community’s design philosophy focuses on increasing walkability and facilitating clean commuting options throughout the community.

The Sustainable City – Yas Island will include apartments and townhouses within 10 residential complexes, all of which are available to buyers of all nationalities. The first phase of the project includes the construction of 272 apartments and 240 townhouse units, which will be offered for sale on January 19. The residential units are available in different options including one, two and three bedrooms, with an average price of AED 892,000 per one bedroom unit. Three- and four-bedroom townhouses are also available in the project, with an average price of AED 3.24 million for a three-bedroom unit.
